★ Our Philosophy ★
Always Fun.
That's not a slogan, it's the method.
At Extras, we believe kids learn to love football by playing football — not by standing in lines waiting for a turn, and not by drilling a skill on its own with no game around it.
Every minute your child is on the ball with us, they're inside a game. A game with a twist that happens to be exactly what they need to practise that week — a bonus point for using the weaker foot, a goal that only counts after a 1v1 dribble, a race instead of a rep count. That's how real improvement happens at this age, and it's also just more fun.
Why we don't have a leaderboard
Every child on Extras is compared to one person: who they were last week. Nothing is ranked. Nothing is compared between players. A quieter kid working hard on their first touch deserves the same pride in their progress as the most naturally gifted player on the field — and at Extras, they get it.
What we're actually building
Three things, in this order:
-
01
A love of the game
If a child doesn't enjoy it, nothing else we do matters.
-
02
A love of the work
Getting good at anything takes persistence and commitment — we want kids to feel proud of the effort itself, not just the result.
-
03
Real skill
Ball mastery, passing, 1v1s, shooting, and the game sense to use them — the foundations that make football more fun the better you get at it.
How we track growth (Challenge Cards)
A few times through the program, we run some games that double as a gentle check-in — never a test, never scored against anyone else. From it, we spot the one thing each player is best placed to grow next, and we turn that into a small, positive nudge in their homework. Not a mark. Not a ranking. Just: here's your superpower to work on this month.
Parents see their own child's growth from week 1 to week 10 — nobody else's.
Homework, the Extras way
Extras is meant to be the fun extra, not another thing on the list. Homework here is an invitation, never an assignment. If your child wants to have a go once or twice during the week, brilliant. If life gets busy, that's fine too — they'll get just as much from showing up and playing.
